Lecture Summary:

The safe and effective anaesthesia is an essential skill for veterinary nurses. This day will take an extensive look at the various aspects of anaesthesia from a veterinary nursing perspective.

You will be guided through the interpretation of commonly used monitoring equipment and current analgesic techniques to ensure you leave the course confident that you can provide the best anaesthetic experience for your patients.

Learning Objectives:-

* Pre-anaesthesia planning & anaesthetic agents
* How to recognise and manage a painful patient
* Cardiovascular monitoring – rates & rhythms to include ECG interpretation & blood pressure
* Respiratory Monitoring – capnography, pulse oximetry & blood gas analysis
* When things go wrong
* How to effectively manage anaesthetic problems
